NO. I fail to see how a sequel can be developed so badly? The Directors Cut basically has taken what was not broken, improved it, and then rendered it into an unejoyable version. If you thought the controls and movements were clunky and cumbersome in the first game, then you have not seen nothing till you attempt to play this one. Too many game crashes where you can fall through below the world and have to reload last save. Thank goodness that I got this game through a bundle and did not purchase it out right. I will not ever purchase another game form this developer again. I have had issues with all of them I have played so far. DELETE and goodbye!. Excellent game - both 1 & 2. Lots of gameplay - 9 hours with 1st game and 16 with 2nd. Puzzles were interesting. Quite scary at times. Only thing I didn't like was there was lots of walking and no ability to run.. The Darkness Within 2 is a first person horror adventure game with an emphasis on investigation and piecing together information you find in books and also objects you find. Unlike the point and click nature of the first game you can actually move around in this one which is a nice change.But unfortunately this game is a buggy mess. There are invisible walls galore and sometimes you can just walk straight through them without even realising you weren’t supposed to go there. This often results in you falling through the world. This happened to me 5 times in the first 2 hours, losing a good amount of progress each time. But even when the game works i found it boring. The puzzles are quite difficult and a bit abstract. Some of them were not very logical at all. I don’t think many people if anyone could finish this game without consulting a walkthrough unless you’re some sort of genius.The sound was fine. Nothing special but did the job. Now i’m not one to mark a game down much because of the graphics but it must be said it looks pretty poor considering it was released in 2010 and games like Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2 and Amnesia: The Dark Descent were released in this year this game looks very poor in comparison. This looks like its from like 2005 honestly. If you’re really into these detective horror adventure games you might like this but i would recommend Scratches over this game.4/10. it's fun game i like horror game with story without jumpscares in these days lot of indie games they got horror game with jumpscare's with no reasson and simple story but this game is fun story and puzzle . the problem of the animation and graphic only.. quot;Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage (Director's Cut Edition)" brings us back to Howard Loreid after the events of the previous installment. While Darkness Within 1 was narratively set up as a flashback to show Loreid's descent into madness, Darkness Within 2 shows events afterwards. Ditching the point and click to a free roam horror game inspired by Lovecraft's works. While it is not necessary to play Darkness Within 1 (recounting those events early on), it certainly makes you see the ending.Unlike the first, Darkness Within 2 doesn't suffer as much from pacing. Not requiring you to go back and forth to read documents as much (in fact, you're not really required to except in one or two instances). Instead it encourages you to speak with residents of Arkhamend to gain information to progress. It also brings free roam exploration as the focus while puzzles are used to get to important items for the ending. Darkness Within 2 seems to want to engage the player more into the character, and it helps with these changes. It also has an quick save system when pressing 'F5' which is highly appreciated.However, with these changes, there are problems. The voice acting, while some are good, most is flat. There is no difference between the voice used for monologues than when you are actually speaking to someone (at least with the previous game, the voice actor used a hushed tone to distingush between the two). There is no difference between inner monologue than speaking Some areas have areas where you can fall through the floor. While some are behind areas blocked off, there was one towards the end after a puzzle. Along with this, I do suggest if there will be invisible walls, have them to where the player can't jump over most of them. While subtitles are translated to english, at the end it is not. It also needs to be said that this version has objects moved and some puzzles added (this is not the first version of the game), so there is only a german walkthrough that tells you where those objects are located and how to solve the new puzzles. Darkness Within 2 also gives too much information, not leaving the player to question whether these events truely happened or not. While Darkness Within 2 can be frusturating, it is worth playing.Overall:+ pacing is improved+ sound effects realistic+ more immersion+ quick save system+/- difference between this and other version can cause confusion while looking for a walkthrough+/- objects or hotspot can be too small to see - flat voice acting- bug where you can fall through the map. Improves upon its predecessor in many ways, a pretty worthy sequel. Be warned though, the 3D engine is quite buggy. Save often, as you might find yourself walking through walls or falling straight through the ground if you jump too vivaciosly.. I recommend this game.
